Today, we’d like to introduce you to Rhona Kivlehan, our ENDS strategic account manager. Rhona will be known to some of our existing ENDS customers, whom she has helped achieve project success during her time at Hall Analytical. Find out more about our ENDS services here.
Hi Rhona. We’ve flipped the script this time, with you in the hot seat. Can you start by explaining how you came into this role?
During my studies for an Environmental Science degree, I enjoyed undertaking lab work, but my passion for working with people and being in a customer-focused role became apparent and enabled me to strive for customer excellence. I gained a lot of business development and sales experience within the biopharmaceutical and healthcare fields. After carrying out some research about the ENDS industry, I decided it would be a challenging and motivational role for me.
Good that you’ve found yourself in a suitable role. What does a day in your life in this role look like?
I manage customer accounts. This involves arranging meetings, issuing proposals, and liaising with the technical and operations teams. They support me on the technical side of things. My role varies from day to day which can provide lots of challenges. I have the opportunity to pull in all of my experience and each day I’m learning something new which is beneficial to me. I work with a very talented team to whom I am very grateful.
Thanks for the kudos – we like working with you too! So what is your favourite thing about working for Hall?
There’s a lot of collaboration across the organisation and strong teamwork enables us to fully support our customers with their study requirements. I have a hybrid set-up that allows me to split my time between Glasgow and Manchester. This has allowed me to have a good work/life balance, as well as being able to build relationships with my colleagues, despite not being in the office every week.
Yes, it’s been great to have you around the place. You spoke about work/life balance – how do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I like to spend my weekends in the great outdoors. Whether it’s exploring the rugged coastline of Argyll or taking on a more challenging hill walk like Ben Nevis, it always seems to benefit my fitness and wellbeing which adds value to my lifestyle. I enjoy meeting up with family and friends and I have a keen interest in photography. I have a lot of passion for cooking and, having been plant-based for nearly 5 years, I am in my element when I’m cooking my favourite dishes.
Sounds like a fun mix of activities. You should bring in some of your plant-based cooking sometime—they say it’s the future. Speaking of which, where do you see the industry in 10 years? What do you think will have changed and what will remain the same?
I expect that products will continue to evolve in terms of their design and use, with new offerings being brought to the market. Medicinal products are hopefully going to be available to healthcare patients. The regulatory bodies will likely continue to be challenging whilst they strive to achieve a smoke-free future.
Interesting stuff. Well, that’s all from us today—we hope that you enjoyed being in the hot seat today.
